On 27 January, Mr. Qiu Zhaojun, Managing Director of the Company, together with Ms. Sun Xiaoyan, Marketing Director, visited Bath, United Kingdom, and paid a courtesy visit to Professor Yukeshwar Kumar, former Mayor of Bath.
The meeting focused on exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK in the areas of trade and investment, culture, education, and people-to-people engagement. Mr. Qiu briefed Professor Kumar on the Company’s work and future plans in supporting China–UK exchanges and international cooperation. He expressed the Company’s willingness to strengthen collaboration with relevant institutions in Bath, promote platforms such as the China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) and the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), and invited Professor Kumar to visit China at a suitable time.
Professor Kumar highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue and cooperation between the UK and China amid the current global environment, particularly in cultural, educational, and commercial fields. Both sides agreed to maintain communication and explore further opportunities for cooperation.
Professor Yukeshwar Kumar is the first mayor of Indian heritage in the history of Bath and a scholar specialising in South Asian studies at the University of Bath. He is an alumnus of Peking University, where he studied under the renowned Chinese scholar Professor Ji Xianlin. A seasoned interpreter and translator, Professor Kumar has translated works by prominent Chinese writers including Feng Jicai and Xue Mo, and has long been committed to promoting cross-cultural understanding and exchange.
