On May 30, 2025, the Cambridge China Business Forum was held at the Cambridge Union. The forum focused on several key themes, including: e-commerce and consumer trends; the evolving integration of AI and social retail; innovation in collaboration, ethics, and business practices in the intelligent era; and technological innovation and sustainable pathways toward a green future.
Distinguished guests in attendance included John Mclean OBE, Chairman of the China-Britain Business Fusion Centre; Kidd Wang, Director of Overseas Gaming Marketing Technology at Tencent; Shen Zhipeng, Director of Enterprise Partnerships and Solutions at ByteDance (TikTok UK); and Li Haopeng, Sales and Marketing Manager for BYD UK & Ireland, among other representatives from Chinese and British business communities.
The forum holds significant practical and strategic value for enterprises from both China and the UK:
- Unlocking Green Tech Cooperation Opportunities: It provided a platform for accurate alignment of technology, capital, and market needs between the two countries in rapidly growing sectors such as renewable energy, environmental protection, and new energy vehicles, fostering joint development of third-party markets.
- Navigating Transformation Challenges and Policies: The forum served as a platform to interpret the latest green industry policies, carbon market rules, and regulatory requirements in China and the UK, helping enterprises effectively manage transformation risks and capitalize on policy dividends.
- Creating New Channels for Sustainable Finance: It promoted connections between financial institutions and enterprises, expanded financing options for green projects, explored innovative financial instruments, and reduced the cost of cross-border investment and financing.
- Building Talent and Innovation Networks: It strengthened the synergy between industry, academia, and research, enabling businesses to directly access leading research resources and talent pools, accelerating the commercialization of innovative technologies and enhancing global competitiveness.
- Strengthening Mutual Trust and Strategic Coordination: Amid a complex international landscape, the forum acted as a high-level dialogue platform to enhance understanding, reduce misjudgment, and promote the establishment of a more stable and predictable cooperation framework to support long-term business strategies.
Intennel Business Group, which has been deeply engaged in UK-China cross-border e-commerce, especially during the pandemic period when it assisted numerous Chinese enterprises in entering the UK market, was invited to attend the forum as a pioneering and active player in the field. The company also operates an 8,000-square-meter cross-border e-commerce hub in Birmingham. Mr. Qiu Zhaojun, Managing Director of Intennel Business Group, attended the forum on behalf of the company.
