On April 23rd, Mr. Qiu Zhaojun, Managing Director of Intennel Business Group, visited the London office of the Shanghai Foreign Investment Development Board (SFIDB). Mr. Zhang Jun, the Board’s overseas representative, had an in-depth discussion with Mr. Qiu on how to promote the development of China-UK investment projects.
Established on December 27, 1999, with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal Government, the Shanghai Foreign Investment Development Board operates under the leadership of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce. Its main responsibilities include promoting Shanghai’s investment environment, organizing various investment promotion activities, and facilitating project implementation. The primary functions of the London office are to publicize Shanghai’s investment environment in the UK, assist Shanghai enterprises in exploring the UK market, help resolve issues encountered during project investments, and provide tailored services for potential UK investors.
Currently, Shanghai is home to nearly 70,000 foreign-funded enterprises, including over 930 regional headquarters of multinational corporations and more than 540 foreign R&D centers. Shanghai also serves as the permanent host of the China International Import Expo (CIIE). During the sixth CIIE, the Shanghai Municipal Government organized a “City Promotion Conference,” while the Ministry of Commerce held the “Invest in China Year” summit series of activities in Shanghai, creating a favorable investment environment for international investors.
Mr. Qiu emphasized that Shanghai is a key hub and a “barometer” for foreign investment in China. Intennel Business Group is committed to creating opportunities for more UK companies to understand and invest in Shanghai. At the same time, the company has actively supported Shanghai enterprises in entering the UK and European markets. For instance, in 2023, Intennel Business Group organized a full-scale brand campaign in the UK for SAIC Motor’s MG series, which achieved significant market impact. Mr. Zhang Jun praised the company’s achievements and expressed his hope for both parties to further integrate their resources and create more opportunities for cooperation.
